Water Damage Claims
Water damage can spread behind walls, beneath flooring and into contents. Coverage can depend on the source, timing and policy language, so record what happened and contact your insurer for claim-specific instructions.
Our team includes professionals with IICRC certifications in fire, water, and odor restoration.

First steps to consider
- Address immediate safety concerns and stop the source of water if it is safe and practical to do so. Avoid electrical hazards.
- Contact your insurer promptly to report the damage and ask what mitigation steps it expects.
- Photograph the source if identifiable and the affected areas before cleanup; continue documenting as drying and repairs proceed.
- Take reasonable steps to prevent further damage, and keep invoices and receipts for emergency mitigation and temporary repairs.
Get organized
What to gather
- When you first noticed the water and what you know about its source
- Photos or video of affected ceilings, walls, floors, cabinets, and belongings
- Mitigation company reports, moisture readings, drying logs, invoices, and repair estimates
- A list of damaged contents and any available receipts or proof of purchase
What happens next
How the claim process usually goes
- 1
The insurer records the reported cause and may arrange an inspection.
- 2
Mitigation and drying work may happen while the damage is being assessed; keep records and photographs throughout.
- 3
The claim representative reviews the observed damage, cause information and repair scope against the policy.
- 4
The insurer explains its determination and next steps. If damage appears to extend beyond the estimate, document it and ask how to submit supplemental information.
